The following points are very important for your interview with the British Immigration office (Embassy or Consulate) in your country if you want to follow a full time English course in England. If your visa is refused because you have not communicated these points to the interviewing officer we may not be able to return your deposit.
How much English do you know?
Show that you have been studying English in your country recently. Even better, show that you are studying English now in your country. If you have not studied English for a long time the immigration officer will not believe that you really need or want to start learning English in England where you will spend a lot of money on your course.
You need a letter from your university or school to show that you are studying English. If you say that you have studied English you must be ready to say something in English during the interview.
Why do you want to study English in England?
Show that you need to learn English, better English than is possible in your country. This may be for your work or future study. Show that you need to speak English to English speakers, learn to follow English conversations, become familiar with the English way of doing and saying things, spend more time mastering vocabulary and grammatical constructions, gain confidence in communicating in English and pass an examination in English.
We are an exam centre for Cambridge University and we will also help you to pass the TOEIC examination, if you should need to.
Where are you going to study and what is your course?
Show that you know the name of the school, where the school is (Reading), your starting and finishing dates, the level of your course (see levels 1 - 10), the exams you will take and the general description of the course. All this is on your letter of acceptance from the school (please see example following).
What will you do at the end of your course?
Show that you intend to return to your country at the end of the course. Do this using written evidence -continued enrolment at university, a letter from the company where you work, a contact of work, etc.
What money will you use to live in England during your course?
Show that you have enough money to live and study without working in UK. As a student you will be able to work for 20 hours per week but this will be more for experience than for essential money.
You need bank statements or sponsors' letters, anything that proves that you have enough money. After the initial one or two months at our school, you may be able to find accommodation with other students and arrange you own meals. Although you will still have the school fees to pay - this will reduce the cost of your stay - so you will need something like £ 8000 for one year of expenses - school, rent, food, travel, general living expenses.
Where are you going to live in England?
Show that you know where you are going to live in England. The address is on your letter of acceptance written by the school.
Show that you are honest. Never lie. If the immigration officer thinks that you are not telling the truth you will not get a student visa. Some "students" come to England and then disappear. They do not want to go to school but just want to work (illegally). If the interviewing officer expects this he will not give you a visa.
